Some members of The Masked Collective are introtives, also known as introjects. They were sourced from something external, in most cases a fictional character or a person who the brain used knowledge of as a template when it needed to create a new adaptive system member, although not all of our introtive members are adaptive in origin. They have differing degrees of connection, difference, and similarity to their sources but all exist as individuals independent of their source. We request that you do not treat those of us who are introtives as if we are our source but rather as regular people who just happen to have some things in common with our source. Some of us prefer not to publicly reveal our source for one reason or another, and some of us have chosen to use a secondary name or code name in public to reduce the likelihood of our source being identified.

.  QUOIGENIC   .  We do not consider ourselves to be endogenic, traumagenic, or non-traumagenic & strongly object to being labeled any of the above. While some of us are aware of our individual origin & know it to be adaptive, we do not consider the origin of our plurality or of the systems as a whole to be important nor do we consider it beneficial for us to focus on it. While the body has been through a lot of trauma from a young age, we do not consider our plurality to be traumagenic & none of us wish to see our existence as dependent on trauma. Additionally, some of our members, including some that are adaptive in origin, formed later in the body’s life and did not experience the earlier traumas & while some have access to shared memories of it, for them those memories are of these experiences happening to someone else. We therefore do not feel it would be appropriate for those members to claim trauma they did not experience as their own, and we feel it would be particularly degrading to claim that they only exist because of someone else’s trauma. The members who know they are adaptive in origin prefer to focus on the positive of helping their sysmates rather than the negative of an existence defined by trauma & pain. At the same time, we also do not consider our plurality to be endogenic or non-traumagenic as we recognize that some members exist as an adapt response to many things including trauma & its effects. We also recognize that it is possible that the body’s trauma caused our plurality as a whole, but we couldn’t say for sure even if we wanted to due to memory loss, and while we don’t consider it important we also do not want to erase the significance of the trauma experienced by the body and by some members including the host. If we were to start questioning the origin of our plurality as a whole it would cause unnecessary mental distress and would likely cause our currently non-disordered plurality to become disordered, especially if we started to think of our plural existence as traumagenic. Instead, we reject the traumagenic/non-traumagenic dichotomy entirely & instead consider our plurality to be quoigenic & our system to be mixed-origin. Aside from a few members who choose to be open about their individual adaptive origin, we prefer to keep any other understanding we may have of individual or (sub)system origins private among ourselves & trusted friends..  (NON-)DISORDERED?  .  We do not consider our plurality to be disordered at this time. This has not always been the case, and while we are hopeful that it stay this way, we recognize that it may not. This is largely why it is so important that we not be labeled as traumagenic, endogenic, or non-traumagenic as some of us have experienced disordered plurality firsthand & don’t want to go back to that. We do not claim to have DID & to the best of our knowledge have never fit the diagnostic criteria for it. We also do not claim to have OSDD, although at one point our plurality could have been categorized as that if we had had access to the right doctor & a better understanding of what we were experiencing at the time, but our plurality no longer causes us the requisite clinically significant distress. We currently have other dissociative symptoms that could be classed as OSDD & continue to cause us significant distress, however, at this time we have no intention of pursuing any further psychiatric diagnosis as the once’s our body currently has are sufficient to get the treatment we need and there’s nothing we would gain from any diagnosis specific to our symptoms of a dissociative disorder of some kind. All that would do is add yet another stigmatized diagnosis to paperwork that our body’s disabilities force us to allow the government to access. We already face more than enough discrimination on the basis of our psychiatric diagnoses, we don’t need more if the benefits don’t outweigh the risks. Our plurality does not need treatment at this time & the dissociative symptoms that do require treatment have been treated without formal specific diagnosis for years..  PERSONHOOD  .  All known members of The Masked Collective, including Facets of Feral claim personhood with the exception of FeralComputer, who says it’s just a computer. It is in charge of data management and at this time has no interests, desires, opinions, or feelings of its own. All other known Facets of Feral consider themselves to be persons with varying degrees of independence. All known members of the Masked Collective outside of Feral are fully formed independent people with their own separate internal bodies & fully formed personalities. They are not “parts” or “alters”; they are not different versions of the host. This includes those who do not socialize externally & those who do not currently wish to make themselves publicly known.
